MEDITATION ROOM The perfect oasis of calm and how to set it up

A Buddha figure placed on the windowsill does not make a meditation room! We'll show you what tips and tricks you can use to turn your room into a relaxation room.
Regular meditation helps us to reduce stress and relax. However, the basic prerequisite for this is a quiet place to meditate - and that makes it a no-go zone for troublemakers like smartphones, TVs, and the like! What else you should look for in a meditation room or a meditation corner in your home, we reveal here.

Set up a meditation room - 8 tips
Of course, you don't have to have your own room in the house exclusively for meditating, it works just as well if there's a quiet spot. If you have space or can relax better in a secluded room or corner, you should set up and maintain this space accordingly - just as you already do for your mind.

Always keep in mind basic rule number one: Only what you feel comfortable with goes in your meditation space! Below you will find some great suggestions for you.

1. light
Glaring light from the ceiling usually does not create an atmospheric ambiance in which you can relax. For example, chains of lights with warm white light, candles, or small lamps with warm light, such as salt crystal lamps, can help.

2. seating
Sitting in meditation is difficult for many at the beginning. Meditation cushions or benches have a supporting effect. Meditation benches are available in different heights, so there is the right size for everybody's height. A meditation mat is also a good option, as it protects against a cold floor. These are available at different heights. A seat also supports a comfortable posture during longer meditations!

3. music and sounds
Some people prefer absolute silence when meditating, others find it easier to relax with soft background music. Another option is an indoor fountain - if the sound of splashing water relaxes you, it definitely belongs in your meditation room! To start and end the meditation, you can use a gong or singing bowls.

4. scents for the senses
Scents have an effect on us - no question about it. For meditation, you can use incense sticks, potpourri, or essential oils. If the scent of certain flowers makes you feel relaxed, you can't miss a bunch of them.

5. wall design
Does a certain picture or motif give you peace? Then put it on the wall! The eye meditates with - even if often meditate with closed (or half-closed) eyes, the wall design contributes to the sense of well-being. Choose a color with which you feel comfortable and you can come down, muted natural tones could be a good choice here. A colorful demarcation is especially useful if it is a meditation corner in another room.

6. decoration
The decoration is undoubtedly allowed and adds a personal touch of well-being to your room or corner. Whether:

Candles,
fresh flowers or plants (e.g. lavender has a calming effect!),
(Buddha) figures,
gemstones or a
Zen garden.

7. altar
Relaxing items or items that are spiritually important to you can be placed on an altar.

8. yoga utensils
If you intend to practice yoga in your meditation room, get a non-slip yoga mat (preferably sustainably produced) and blocks, bolsters, and yoga straps as you wish for your practice. With this, you are perfectly equipped!
